As a company that is keenly interested and involved in literacy acquisition for all students, we fully support the recent Government moves to get one to one support for struggling readers.
This level of support is laudable, but it can lead to high costs, both in terms of resources and in terms of training for the support staff involved.

We would therefore like to bring to your attention the Second Chance Literacy resources produced by us at JJ Educational. This scheme was designed and produced by two experienced SEN teachers working in a mainstream Secondary school who had been trying to engage struggling readers.
The resources themselves are produced as PDF master copies of Readers, worksheets, games, and playscripts all presented on a CD for easy storage and re-printing of new copies as required. The scheme is structured and accompanied by teacher guidance notes, and does not need any training to enable support staff to become effective. It is extremely cost-effective, and being copiable it removes the cost and worry of losing or damaging resources, and the subsequent replacement costs.
